Can I Install a Wood Burning Stove In My Log Cabin?

Many of our customers have installed wood burning stoves in their log cabins. If you have a good supply of wood it can be a stylish and sustainable way to keep your cabin cosy during the cooler months of the year. Our advice is to choose a small wood burner with a low KW output especially if you’ve also decided to fit insulation in your cabin. We recommend that you get it fitted by a registered HETAS engineer as special care needs to be given to the hearth and back plate and twin skin insulated flue. The simplest flue arrangement is to go straight up and out through the roof.

Top safety tips for installing a wood burner in a small space

The Solid Fuel Technology Institute have produced a document for installing stoves in boats. This common sense guide can also be applied to log cabins and small spaces. And don’t forget to fit a carbon monoxide alarm!
